8:22 a.m. A Bigfork woman reported that someone had stolen her identity.
9:29 a.m. A horse was running down the highway.
11:04 a.m. A new resident called 911 inquiring how they could get a medical marijuana card.
12:01 p.m. A very friendly dog was found in Kalispell.
12:37 p.m. A “big shrub” was left in the roadway.
12:50 p.m. A Kalispell man hit his son because he “wasn’t listening.”
1:42 p.m. An abandoned van with a homemade sign that read “stranded” was reported north of Kalispell.
2:14 p.m. A Columbia Falls man reported hearing gunfire. Turns out someone was just target shooting.
2:19 p.m. Two dogs ganged up on two other dogs.
2:55 p.m. An abandoned van with a homemade sign that read “he kicked me out” was reported north of Kalispell. It’s unclear if this is the same van that was reported earlier.
5:52 p.m. A Columbia Falls man butt dialed 911.
6:21 p.m. A Kalispell woman reported that her son had come home “high on meth.”
7:15 p.m. A Kalispell resident reported that their son had just jumped out of a window.
10:28 p.m. A Whitefish man reported that his dogs were barking
12:29 a.m. A Columbia Falls man walked into a bar with a really big knife in his back pocket.
3:25 a.m. Someone had been “snooping” around a Kalispell neighborhood.
5:15 a.m. A man was slumped over his steering wheel in front of a Libby casino for a number of hours. Law enforcement decided to check on the man who was just hanging out with his dog and waiting to sober up before driving home.
12:13 p.m. A Libby man brought “some paperwork from the internet” into the police station and declared that it was a scam.
12:51 p.m. Someone was harassing an area mail carrier.
9:59 p.m. A man in a jean jacket was slashing tires in Libby.
7:57 a.m. Some drugs were found in the men’s bathroom of a Kalispell store.
9:13 a.m. A 3-year-old child called 911 on her mom’s phone while the adult was sleeping. The mom quickly woke up and grabbed the phone to report that everything was fine.
9:33 a.m. Someone vandalized the “Welcome to Troy” sign.
10:31 a.m. A Whitefish resident called 911 to report that they had finally captured video of their neighbor’s dog peeing on their porch.
11:15 a.m. A dog has been “crying” behind the library in Lakeside for more than a day.
11:17 a.m. A Kalispell woman called 911 because her husband was trying to run people over with her car.
11:19 a.m. A Libby woman reported that she is off her meds.
11:31 a.m. A 3-year-old boy was locked in a van.
11:40 a.m. A Libby resident called 911 because it appeared that some horses across the river from his house were very “distraught” and appeared to be standing over the body of another horse.
12:03 p.m. A Kalispell man visiting a friend in jail soon got to spend even more quality time with his pal after law enforcement recognized him from a wanted poster.
1:03 p.m. A Kalispell woman lost her wallet.
1:17 p.m. Some farming equipment was stolen.
1:41 p.m. A Columbia Falls man reported that he just chased off some youths who were “tearing brodies” in his parking lot.
2:06 p.m. Two Kalispell dogs were chasing a deer.
5:01 p.m. A Libby deer went through someone’s windshield.
5:20 p.m. A Libby resident reported that their wallet was stolen and that they “have some suspects.”
6:08 p.m. A Kalispell man said some of his guns had been stolen.
6:11 p.m. An Evergreen man reported that he was being followed.
7 p.m. A Libby woman reported that her wallet was gone.
7:34 p.m. A Kalispell man called 911 to complain that his neighbor’s dog is “always whining” and that someone should go over there to check on it.
7:39 p.m. Three horses were on the run in Demersville.
7:56 p.m. A Kalispell man said he doesn’t know where his daughter is but he would like someone to check up on her.
8:38 p.m. Some brush was on fire.

8:36 a.m. A dog was chasing a deer.
10:19 a.m. A truck was stolen in Columbia Falls.
11:39 a.m. A truck ran a red light.
12:44 p.m. Tools were stolen.
1:10 p.m. A Kalispell man found a dog in a garage.
1:16 p.m. A Somers resident wishing to be “as anonymous as possible” reported that their neighbor was not feeding their horse.
1:19 p.m. A street fight was going down on Maple Drive.
2:07 p.m. Someone tried to steal a UPS truck in a desperate attempt to quickly finish their Christmas shopping.
2:49 p.m. A Whitefish deer tried and failed to jump over a fence.
2:57 p.m. A Kalispell bar patron was upset with the bartender when he got kicked out for dealing drugs right at the bar.
5:52 p.m. Someone at a birthday party pocket-dialed 911.
8:36 p.m. A Somers teen was “being defiant.”

These are way more interesting than our actual police blotter, which is 95 % DUI arrests, tickets/arrest for possession of weed and/or paraphernalia , and shoplifting.

Last night I was out for drinks with some people and a friend told me she was going to “some shithole in Montana for a wedding”.
I said “oh, where?”
“Whitefish”
I immediately thought about sending her these.

I am reminded of when I was a kid of about 6, and some cows got out of their pasture from the nearby farm. They came trotting down our little street, and it seemed like a stampede to me.
